Experience Counts: Fish Marathon with a Native Captain

Capt. Jeff (right) with his oldest son and first mate, Cole.

A Keys native with three decades’ experience as a Marathon, Florida, fishing charter captain, Capt. Jeff Rella’s knowledge of the middle Florida Keys is unparalleled. Just as important, he has built a reputation as a nice guy to spend a day on the water with — easygoing, patient, adaptable to all experience levels, and great with kids.

Superfish Charters can accommodate up to six anglers per boat aboard our custom-built 34’ and 39’ SeaVee center consoles for Marathon fishing charters ranging from four to eight hours. We fish everywhere from the nearshore patch reefs to the famous Marathon Hump 30 miles offshore in the Atlantic to remote structure spots 50 miles into the Gulf of Mexico.

We target a huge variety of species on our Florida Keys fishing charters, ranging from reef dwellers like snapper and grouper, to pelagics like tuna, dolphin, and billfish, to migrators like cobia and kingfish. We also offer exciting shark fishing trips in protected waters and specialize in deep-drop fishing with electric reels for prized fish like snowy grouper, queen snapper and golden tilefish.

Why Choose Superfish?

The fact is there are dozens of charter fishing operations in the Middle Keys — most of them priced similarly. So why pick us?

  • Capt. Jeff is a Keys native captain with a lifetime of experience.
  • We are owner operated — no short-term hired captains.
  • Federal Gulf of Mexico charter permit lets us fish where others can't.
  • Fast, dry, soft-riding 39' SeaVee boat with quad 300 hp engines means more fishing time, less travel time.
  • We custom-tailor your trip — from low-key to hardcore.
  • We love taking families fishing!

Doing What I Love

Running a successful charter fishing business in the Keys isn’t as glamorous as it might look, and captains come and go — a lot. I was born and raised here, started commercial fishing and spearfishing before I could drive a car, then got my captain’s license and started guiding at 18.

Now, 30 years later, I enjoy it just as much I did back then, and maybe more. There’s nothing better than seeing the excitement on people’s faces, especially kids, when they hook a big fish. Marathon and the Middle Keys have some of the best year-round saltwater fishing in the world, and I’m grateful to be able to make a living here doing what I love.

Whether you’re a lifelong angler or just a beginner, my goal every day when we leave the dock is to take you on the fishing adventure of a lifetime!

—Capt. Jeff

Marathon Charter Fishing Reviews

They were fantastic with our boys and took the time to teach them about the things they were doing, such as tying knots and the different species of fish. At the end of the day we felt like we were leaving family members and hated to say goodbye!
— Shannon
Jeff produces fish and is capable of fishing for any targeted species. I’ve fished with him for tuna, muttons, dolphin and deep dropped for snowy grouper and barrels. This captain is the real deal. If you want to catch fish while in Marathon, look Captain Jeff up.
— "huntsfla"
Mason got a big amberjack, Jacob got a big tuna, and we lost more fish to goliath groupers and sharks! Lots of fish wrangling today, lots of swearing (by us) when we lost them, but LOTS of fun! Thank you for a day we will never forget!
